Connected Navigation
The app "MyRadar" is free and displays on your screen through apple CarPlay very similarly to the built-in weather radar.
Also, I've found the biggest benefit of the built-in Nav is that it displays your next turn and distance on the dash between the tach and speedo. CarPlay does not translate directions over to the dash like that, but I wish it did. My trial on my 21 is just about up, still not sure if I will renew.

I had tried Apple Maps eons ago, but heard it had improved. About 6-8 months ago, I gave Apple Maps another try. It is now my go-to. Supports full screen CarPaly. The routing in the DFW area has been great. It is not chatty, rather it gives what I consider to be really good updates without over doing it. It also displays the nav and turn info in the instrument cluster. It also provides warnings of cloud-sourced reports of road hazards, accidents and speed traps.
YMMV, but I like it a lot.
