Changing an existing order?
Max Tow does nothing for payload on a powerboost. You'll still be payload limited (by a bit) with a 502A. Plus, the package includes a lot of features that are already standard or not included (36 gallon tank NA) on the PB as well.
I concur, I would keep regular tow (that's on my order). Neither tow package will increase payload, they actually will restrict it slightly by adding weight.
I also learned the Max Tow makes the frame heavier, hence the lower payload. I don't see myself carrying a bunch of stuff in the truck anyways. Powerboost already can tow 11k pounds. I'm changing it back to tow technology.
I was going by what PowerBoost can do.. I know it's extremely difficult if not impossible to find a trailer that is 11,000 pounds with a tongue weight of roughly 800 pounds (after I put stuff in the cargo area of the truck).
Did the dirty deed yesterday and modified my order that I may never receive.
Deleted:
2.7 V6 Ecoboost Payload Package
Trailer Tow Package
Added:
Class IV trailer hitch
3.55 locking axle
For the way I will actually use this vehicle the two deleted packages were an extra expense of no advantage to me. I pull a 6x12 lightweight utility trailer around town at low speeds and light loads at most a 100 miles a year, but an 8 ft bed is a MUST.

To each their own, the most advantage is giving the smaller displacement engines the lowest gear ratio possible to stay off the turbos.
Yes the 3.55 gears and the 2.7EB will pull this trailer combo all day long as long as one knows where all the gas stations in the area are located. Weight of the trailer is not the issue it is the trailers frontal area that is the set back.
Been there and pulled that exact trailer with a 2.7EB, now on order is a 22 2.7 EB with the 2.7EB Payload package.
Ford sells the F150 for Ford's best benefit in the CAFE ratings not the consumer use ratings.

Question on making changes after order, as I'm looking to change from 500a to 501a and update the paint color.
Is there a way for me to make this change on my own, or I will I need to involve the dealer? I'd rather not bug them because of my indecisiveness if I don't have to.
