When i installed the tie-downs in my 2023 xlt, the screws didn’t want to go in. You know how you can thread a nut onto a bolt fairly easily with your fingers? Wouldn’t work for these, it’s like the bolts were a half size too small. But they came out of the package so they were the correct ones. I used my impact driver that i used to drive deck screws, and it ran them in easily. Not effortlessly, but easily. I could tell the bolts were partially cutting threads on the way in.

No pre-cut threads in the holes. Either use self-tapping screws or a standard tap.

The holes are not threaded. The bolts that Ford uses are self tapping.

Thanks for that info. I have an assortment of screws that I can usually find to fit any given thread size but couldn't find any that fit these holes. That explains it. Will try tapping one to see how it works out. Thanks.

ahh gotcha fellas. I was like, you gave a bolt size with thread info to match what I thought was the threaded hole that is there, what do you mean they are self tapping? Lol.
I would definitely run a real tap in there to get decent threads if you ever need to replace them. But then again, I just bought a tap/die set off Amazon for 50 bucks.
