Well I think I'm giving up, after fully charging my battery it failed to update two more times. I then purchased a new battery and installed it today. After 3 more update tries including doing the reset, it still won't download the update. I guess I will have to have it done during my next oil change. This is infuriating. Why can't they just let us download updates to a flash drive then install them like on my old Ram? Never had an issue updating my Ram.

The battery is no longer the problem. Now the problem is the BMS data quality.

To fix the BMS data quality, follow these steps that I got from this thread in the Mach E forum:

PITA.....I know, but it is what it is. On F150s 2020 and below, you were able to update the APIM with a USB drive, but not the IPC like this OTA is trying to do. Even if Ford still let us do our own USB updates, this is not one you would be able to do with a USB.

Rugedraw,

I have read all the comments and replies on this thread. I hate to tap your knowledge on this subject but, I am sending you my VIN in hopes to see what may be going on with my updates. My truck has been at the dealership with this issue and it seems to be going nowhere. Thank you for being open to this and hope you can shed some light on this before I actually dump the truck.

The modem on your truck is showing as unauthorized in PTS, so I am unable to see any codes. I can see in your OTA dashboard that you were sent a GWM 3 times, and each time it failed because your truck did not ping the server back to recieve it. Either the modem is offline, or your truck is not connected to Fordpass, so without seeing the codes, I have no idea what's going on. Are you able to add the truck to your Fordpass account?

I understand. I was told the modem may need to be rebooted. I know I have tried to reset all and to factory specs and it still doesn't work. I had access to Fordpass and suddenly it quit and I have not been able to reconnect since. It has been at the dealership for a week now and no word. If it can be rebooted to clear it out and reloaded that would be great. If it takes a new modem it would be nice to get it going.

Thanks a bunch for your try and the information. I do appreciate it.

I have seen cases where a TCU or even the GWM needs to be replaced to fix connectivity issues. It is rare, but not impossible.

Your case is very easy to fix. Your truck received a TCU update in September that broke the TRON encryption. That TCU code citing the message authentication is what is preventing certain connected features from working. Unfortunately, TRON cannot be re-established with FORScan......it can only be done with FDRS. All the dealer needs to do is open up the guided routines under the GWM in FDRS and run the TRON authorizatrion procedure and you'll be good to go. Ford started using TRON on 2024+ F150's and it has been a PITA.
