What time do you have updates set to. Maybe you are driving every day during that time? I have mine set to 3:00 in the morning so I know it will always update. As others mentioned, a low battery is an issue, in particular if Fordpass gives you a low battery warning, it will not update as I found out.

I have it set to update at 1:00am everyday but it hasn't. I've been manually going into updates to try to do it but that's not working either. I put a trickle charger on my truck this morning, I'll try it again tonight when I get home from work (about 10hrs). My truck does sit alot since I have a 2nd vehicle I drive mostly so maybe the battery is a little low. It starts right up and no low battery warnings though.

You might have a completely different issue. That said, I also have a truck that sits a long time because I have a second vehicle, and until that dies, I am trying to keep the mileage low on the truck. I get low battery warnings if the F150 sits for 2 weeks. A lot of people have been having this and all kinds of other battery related issues, even on brand new trucks. I updated from the stock H6 to an aftermarket H8 battery. That extended the low battery warning showing up for another 2 weeks. Eventually I am getting the Forscan software so I can up the battery charge to 90%. As a side note, a trickle only charger is going to take a very long time to charge a battery if low (have a couple Battery Tenders). I have since switched to various Noco chargers at 2A, 5A and 10A, for various types of vehicles and toys, that go into trickle charge mode once the battery is charged, and can handle the newer AGM batteries.

Artsr2002 when I was trying to find a solution I looked it up and apparently the sync4 systems can't be updated by downloading to a flash drive then uploading to the truck. Maybe someone can shed some light on that to verify it because would be much easier.
Correct. Sync 3 would allow you to update the APIM with a USB drive using files you can download from Ford directly. With Sync 4, that is no longer an option. It is OTA or FDRS only.

My original battery was replaced under warranty in early 2023 so I'm hoping this battery isn't starting to go also. My trickle charger is 5a so I'll test my battery when I get home before trying to update again.

I totally understand your frustration. My FordPass Connect app quit working and I have not been able to use it for several months. My truck is currently at the dealership and hoping to get this back. It shows the latest Sync 4 update is from 2023 and I am not able to get it updated. I jumped through all the hoops you have at least a dozen times and no luck yet. I have reset the modem and then reset it to factory specs and followed all the instructions on the screen and the Ford website. Still nothing. The dealer told me the modem needs to be reset. We will see it that is the answer or not. There should be a simple way for updates to be available for me to download and install the latest version for my particular vehicle. Sync 4 sucks.

Rugedraw,
I suspected that you had access to some high tech tool. Thanks for enlightening me. Carry on!

So I had update issues as well. Update tried to install earlier this year and stopped after it reached so many failed attempts. Months later found out from Rugedraw that battery was low and made an appointment with the dealer. Now about a week prior to appointment, I installed a stereo upgrade from Sounds Good Stereo, so you can guess what happened when it went into the dealership. When I pulled in they said state of charge was down in the low 40's. They tested the battery and said the battery is fine, the stereo I installed is the problem. BS... they charged the battery for me and said state of charge was over 85% when I left. When I got home I tired to manually update the software through the touch screen and it failed 3 times. I then called Ford and was told to set the parking brake, and manually set the headlights to off.

I don't drive it much and when I do it's a short trip. Service writer told me I have to take long trips each day for the battery to properly stay charged. So maybe I'll find some kid to joy ride my truck so my battery stays charged in the future.

No, I have zero official training as a mechanic or in software. I worked in the medical field as an x-ray tech for a while, got sick of sick people and now I sell cars for a living. I've turned wrenches plenty in my life; build a few fox body Mustangs when I was younger, but no official training of any kind. Everything I've learned, I learned on my own and by working with a few brilliant people also on the forums who have taught me a lot. Having access to Ford's systems puts me in a unique position to help with certain things, and I don't mind helping when and if I can.

I have had an aftermarket sound system in it for 3.5 of the 4 years I have owned and and like you, I drive very little. My truck has 24k miles in a little over years I've owned it. I did replace my OEM battery with an Optima H7 a year ago or so, but I have never had issues with the sound system draining my battery.
