Default Auto Headlights

Ok, I've looked in the manual and searched but cannot find a resolution, how do I keep my headlights from being in the auto position every time I start my truck?
THanks!

Pretty sure you cannot since it is a DOT requirement.

I am not sure what you mean by auto--auto high beam or auto on-- either way if you turn you head light switch to off --they are off--and if you turn it to on--not auto the auto high beam becomes manual

I have the **** in the off position, push start button and the headlights are on in the automatic position, I don't want my headlights to be on every time I push the start button.

Canadian truck?

Even in OFF position -the lights should not come on even if the dusk sensor is covered (papers or a dash cover for example).
Canadian models I believe must have DRL system enabled at all times.

I do not have the 2021, but in previous years, lights only came on while in drive, when auto-lights are enabled. Lights should not be on simply by starting the motor. I'm sure I've read the 2021 design is the same.

Have you done any FORScan changes to your truck?

Nope, good ole USA. I'm not very good with computers so haven't even attempted FORscan.
Headlights come on every time the start button is pushed, even if not actually starting the truck, sitting in it at lunch time for example.

I think somebody can help you with that.

There should be a feature that allows, for safety, illuminated entry/exit. I don't recall what that was called on the 2016 but I THINK that is what you are experiencing. Seems the dusk sensor on the dash would know better than lite up the surroundings during daylight though.

I do not enable that feature nor do I enable the DRL system or auto lights so I'm sort of not helpful to how it should work, but I know those features exist, somewhere.

I have the welcome lighting enabled as I like the feature,
DRL is disabled but headlights still come on as soon as start button is pushed. Disabled welcome lighting and doesn't affect the headlights.

Just curious as to why this is such a big deal? One less thing to worry about on a daily basis.

I’m not sure whether you have looked at this in the manual, but perhaps it might help
