Adding Tow Package
So I recently bought a 2023 F150 XLT. It did not come with any type tow package, only the 4-pin connector. I am planning on adding the 7-pin connector, trailer hitch, trailer brake controller and trailer brake module. Is there anyone here that has done something similar to what I am planning on doing that could tell me anything else that I will need? Or maybe some pointers on what to get or not to get.
Probably go to Etrailer or similar to source the parts you need to add the 7 pin, and receiver. If you can get a Factory TBC added then that is a far better than the box screwed into the dash. You've spend good money on the truck. Don't spoil it for the sake of saving $100.
Start here to see what your truck is able to tow legally. Tow Calculator. After you have that number figure out what accessories you have on your truck and there weight, then subtract that from the weight you can tow.
A lot will depend on the rear end gear ratios.
You will need a class 2 hitch
There are adaptors that will attach to the tail light harness to convert to the 7 pin
The brake controller get the factory one and use Forscan to activate it.
You can source everything form E-Trailer except the brake controller.

Which model? Might already have the C4 receiver as well as the wiring for the 7 pin going back there. Could be as simple as swapping the connector and adding the TBC if you already have 3.55 gearing. In some trucks the 'tow package" is simply the TBC.
I had the 302A package with no electronic brake controller. So I purchased the kit from infotainment.com , installed it in 5 minutes and it works perfectly. well worth the money. They provide all the items as OEM and an OBDGenie programmed by them with your VIN to activate it all. Super simple, and now looks and feels stock.

There is no add on cooler. And hacking in a fin type is plain dumb on these trucks.
OP; Add a hitch, 7 pin connector and integrated controller as already advised. A search on this site will reveal how to install the controller and 7 pin wire.
Your trucks tow rating can be acquired by the Ford tow calculator. IF I had to venture a guess I would say its probably rated to tow 7k. But you should verify that.
From what I can tell, 5.0 trucks in 2023 that did not come with a towing package came with a "standard" radiator. Towing equipped had what's called a "medium" duty radiator.
That said, don't change anything about your trucks cooling system. If you experience an overheating condition while towing THEN address it, but I seriously doubt you will.
