Adding Nav to 22 XLT
First post here in a while, just got a 22 XLT that had the Nav and SXM deleted. I am not afraid of adding Nav back on my own but I was wondering: has anyone added nav to a non-nav model yet? I don't care to be the first as I am not electrically savvy. It looks like there are APIM's on eBay for the 8" and 12" touch screens for a relatively decent cost. I have done several projects like this before, so I have a pretty good idea of what it entails, but I want to make sure it is possible.
EDIT: I am only looking for information on how to add nav. I already use Apple CarPlay and google maps currently, but that is not the purpose of this thread, and is, in my opinion, not a suitable replacement for factory nav.

Do you know what was deleted from the truck for those not to work?I was just wondering if they deleted the roof antennas or not.I read somewhere that the 2 plastic boxes on the roof are for the attenna for Sirius and the other is for gps for the nav I could be wrong though.I would think the plastic tops are there because I think there are holes in the roof because they screw in from under the headliner but I don’t know if the arenas are inside I’m just guessing here.
I do not know for sure what was deleted, but I hadn't given too much thought to the placement of the GPS antenna. In my 2015 egde, I upgraded to Sync3 with Nav and I had to install a Sync 3 specific antenna (the sync 2 I was replacing also had nav) and I placed the Sync 3 GPS antenna on the IP subframe behind the gauge cluster, so I ASSUMED (we all know that does) that a sync 4 nav antenna would've been similar.
I can do without the SXM, but I do not like not having factory nav. So far I have been using google maps on apple car play, and it has been a fine replacement, but I don't like always having to use my phone like that

My XLT has the 12" screen, and when I picked it up from the dealer it had the nav on the little side window of the screen. I never ordered NAV to begin with, but I did some quick research that day and found out it's a trial NAV. That being said does that mean you could subscribe and pay for it to work on the truck?

I have Nav in my 22 Lariat and it seems archaic compared to Google Maps or Waze.

Yep I have been using Apple CarPlay, I still prefer to have the factory nav.

I am not sure of your answer. I will say I have the factory nav subscription and use it a lot. It seems Google and Waze along with Apple Maps all need cell phone coverage. Where I drive in TN and MO there is no cell phone coverage, so when I leave my house or my daughters house our phones are useless for at least five miles in one direction and up to twenty in another. If I head back towards the highway I get coverage back and can use them.
One size don't fit all, if the OP lives in an area with great cell phone coverage great, if he lives in the country where you don't have great cell phone coverage then great.
OP look at your Ford Pass App and see if you have a subscription button. Then check if you can subscribe to Nav it is about $80.00 a year.
I have the 8 inch APIM on an XL STX package.
