Default 2021 Powerboost problems

I bought my 2021 F150 powerboost in Nov. 2021. There was a vibration when I was going up a hill, on cruise control at 55 to 60 mph. The vibration would start and last the entire hill. I took it back to the dealer. They confirmed the problem and per Ford replaced the transmission. That did not fix the problem so Ford told them to replace the Powertrain Control Module. After installing the PCM and reprogramming everything that still did not fix the problem. When they contacted Ford then Ford said this is a normal characteristic of this truck. Has anyone else had this issue?

No and I hope I don't. Bought mine in mid September. Love the truck so far.

Interesting observation. The cruise control should prevent my theory but here goes.

55 miles per hour up a hill is generally a low RPM and it's a common complaint for a vibration or misfire feel in a modern vehicle. They don't like to downshift without heavy foot feedback, and the excessive load has always, from the beginning of time, mimicked a misfire condition.

Cruise should have kicked down if necessary. If not though, without actually feeling it for myself, I would not be surprised if it's just a characteristic of the motor lugging under load.

All I can suggest as a test procedure, simply shift down a gear or maybe 2 while you're cruising at 60 mph up a hill and see if it smooths out. I'm assuming you are in 10th gear during this experience as well.

I can’t say if this is normal or not but I have had the same thing happen to me on my 21 Powerboost and 22 Powerboost. It normally doesn’t last the entire hill, but it is definitely a weird jarring feeling.

Thanks for the reply. The window sticker on my truck said it was built in Aug 2021 and it came out of the Dearborn MI plant.

There have been some reports of bad driveshafts, but that wouldn't be restricted to uphill climbs.

'21 PowerBoost without issues. I live Denver and I have taken the truck up to the foothills a few times w/o any vibration or shutter.

Please update us with what Ford comes up with next.

Is it only powerboost or have any of the regular 3.5 ecoboosts done that as well?
