Talking 2021 Issues - Chat

I haven't been able to find anything online but is anyone else having either of these two issues?
  • When I get in to start my truck, about half of the time the brake pedal produces an audible "pop" that is felt through the pedal and the steering wheel when pressing it to start the truck. The pedal and everything associated feels fine when the truck is running and I am driving.
  • I have a hell of a whine/mechanical noise that's got to be something driveline related. I hear it the most between 2-25mph, especially on decel.

What issues is everyone else having? Other than that, the truck is absolutely flawless and is to be honest a drastic improvement over my '20.

I haven't experienced what you're speaking of. The only small issue I'm dealing with is getting the integrated brake controller to work properly.

what trim/ engine do you have? The power-boost does whine a bit on deceleration and at slow speeds. It’s the regen or electric motor working. Also the battery will warm itself at startup which creates some
noise.

I don’t have any info on the break pedal issue you describe.

Its a 2.7EB. This isn’t the trans whine either, I’ve had plenty of 10R’s lol! It’s there but it’s not this noise. It’s a very mechanical noise, almost sounds like synchros in a manual trans.

I have experienced the pop in the brake pedal like you describe. It's more of a click I'd say, but same thing. No idea what it is. 3.5 ecoboost.

Here's a wild guess on the brake pedal. Feel kinda silly even posting this but something to do with having to press the brake to start the truck? You're hearing the switch, solenoid, or whatever... ?

No laughing!

I have no idea how that whole setup even works.

One of the new things with the 2021 F150s, is that Ford has changed over to an electric park brake system. No more cable from the parking brake. When you lift the switch to set the parking brake, if the window is open you can hear the electric solenoids setting the parking brakes on the rear wheels. The parking brakes automatically release when you start to go forward or backwards. There is also an option to have the vehicle go into a hold mode that temporarily sets the brakes every time you come to a stop like a hill-holding mode. If everything doesn't work just right I imagine you could get some resistance before the brakes release in either case. Also, just because it is funny the first time you notice it with the Powerboost, when you first start the vehicle, often the gas engine does not start. It just lights everything up in the dash and goes into electric drive mode. No engine noise. I'm only sure it is running because my seat moves to the set memory position when it starts. When you shift to reverse while in electric mode, the truck makes a chiming noise outside so everyone knows you are backing up since the gas engine isn't making any sound. New things to learn and get used to with this truck.

Yeah, definitely noticeable. You can feel it in your foot! Truck goes to the dealer 5/24. I’m not too worried about the brake pedal, more the rear end thats getting louder.

Electric parking brake has actually been on the f150s since 2018

I am glad I am not the only one. I heard a loud whining noise coming from from engine when I took home the truck. I meant to take it back in afterwards, but have not done so yet. I hear it mostly coming from the left side of the engine bay when looking at it from the front. I was wondering if it was the belts or if there was a bad alternator or something. To this day, after 1500 miles, I can still hear it.

The other loud noise I can hear is the woosh. I am guessing its the turbos, even though I am surprised how often they woosh.

Coming from a 2.7 2019 F150, I am surprised how much noisier the truck is. I am ok with the woosh if it is from the turbos, but the whining is embarrassing, especially from a brand new truck.
