Default 2021 5.0 Owners - Cylinder Deactivation Question

Anyone with a new 5.0 who are willing give an honest assessment on the new cylinder deactivation in the 2021? I'm a couple months from ordering and I will be honest, the 5.0 scares me to death. Perhaps I'm being paranoid and obviously a lot of 21's are too new to have any major problems at this point but just wanted to get a sense from the people who have them already what their thoughts are so far.

Let me set the record straight here. The Gen4 5.0 still uses timing chains! The only rubber belt is Kevlar reinforced wet belt that is used on the new oil pump for the truck version of the 5.0 only!
I know this for a fact because I am the person who installs the oil pump at the engine plant

Couple hundred miles and I've yet to notice it. I'm sure the 5.0 has it because Ford said it does but I can't tell when/if it activates.

Ram has had this with the hemi for years. IT only kicks in when cruising at high speed, low RPM so you will not ever notice it. A V8 is barely working at highway speeds especially with a 10th gear! So going down to 6 cyl at that point is going to be something that most people don't even realize.

Just purchased mine Sunday, rolled over the 100 mile mark last night. Planning a 400 mile round trip this weekend, hoping I don't notice the Cylinder drop like others have stated.

I thought it goes from 8 to 4 cylinders?

It may. I was speaking of the Hemi cylinder shutoff.

I have had a 2009 and a 2011 Chevy Avalanche with the cylinder deactivation and never had a problem with it. I barely knew it was there except for my duel exhausts with straight pipes. When you switched from 4 to 8 cylinders you could hear it more than when I had stock exhausts. But, functionally I never had a problem and would not worry about getting a new truck with it.

I have a 19 currently but came here cause I am curious to hear about this in the 21's.

I used to have an 08' grand prix GXP which had the LS4 v8. That engine had cylinder deactivation before it got to the trucks. It was notorious for burning oil because each time it would activate/deactivate it would cause oil mist to vent up into the intake. Many people, including myself actually had it tuned out because it was so bad.

So, with the 5.0's already being notorious for using more than a little oil as it is, I came here to see if anyone notices a lot of usage with this cylinder deactivation, and whether or not the 5.0 oil usage actually gets worse.
