What kind of payload are you getting with the 2.7 and payload package?
What vehicle configuration and trim level?
In a typical truck, say a crew cab short bed XL or base XLT, you're probably looking at 1800-2000 lbs. This is what a 5.0/3.5 truck would be at (give or take) and the payload package on the 2.7 brings it up to match those other two. More or less.
But it depends on the specific truck. Crew cab? Moonroof? Spray in bedliner? Tonneau? Topper? Toolbox? Heavier tires? (yes, heavier tires). Etc, will take away from payload
the PPK equipped vehicles I've seen have a 6900 GCWR v 6600 for stock vehicle. My honest take on this is go for a 5.0, and get the GVWR to 7050 minimum for a fraction more dollars. Ok so you don't get the 9.75 axle but the power. torque are comparable. MPG is pretty darned good to.
My 2.7L payload package truck has 1869 lbs of payload. I am a big fan of this combo. Just a bummer you are restricted to non STX and Sport packages. Has to be a chrome or base package to get it.

I've got a 5.0XLT with almost every toy added and its payload is over 1800lbs with sport package.
My 21 stx/fx4 with 18in wheels supercab was marked 1949lbs. Reordered due to damage and the 22 arrived with non-ordered 20in wheels, bed utility package and NO payload package. This is marked 1459lbs.
But you never really see an apples to apples comparison. As mentioned, its not available with STX in addition to other options. Not available with XLT high, So when you strip off those options, add 2.7 PP, it will end up being a bigger jump in payload than 300 lbs.
But if you actually compare two XL 101A trucks the bump is 300 lbs.
Have a 22 XLT 302a chrome no shifter in the console. In 22 the XLT 302a was the highest level that the 2.7 Payload Package could be gotten on.
Well optioned XLT 302a, bed utility package, rear slider, work surface, non moon roof, adaptive cruise, 18" rims along with the 2.7 Payload Package.
Now just passed 8,500 miles and the truck has preformed close to flawlessly. Only issues are the FORD recalls which the dealer has dealt with, still open is the parking lamp flicker which will be taken care of at the next oil change. Battery did get replaced in January at the first oil change that's it for now folks.
Had the choice of 2 trucks a 5/0 with 3.73 gearing with trailer tow, same color, same interior options basically identical trucks except for the engines.
Being close to 70 and after a life full of V8's the 2.7EB is something new and exciting to have. Not that a 5/0 is not exciting.
Going 2.7EB was here the best choice after having a 2.7EB in a 16 501a Lariat. All around good combo from grocery getter to travel which always returns good fuel mileage. And yes do enjoy sport mode but not like the good old days. The 3.73 gearing does add some punch to the 2.7EB. One does feel the better frame when towing.
30 years younger it would be 5/0 all the way and having a little 2.7 EB well would be laughing and rolling on the ground at anyone to even suggesting such a thing.
Pull a 6k rated dump trailer with no issues, pull a 5x10 Ice House a Smaller Aluma aluminum utility trailer for the 610 Mule or 52" zero turn Hustler mower, car trailer with the small 532a Bobcat skid steer along with a friends 21.5' Salmon Fishing boat. 2.7EB Payload Package pulls it all with no issue.
One thing that is done is run the tires at 38PSI which here seems to work the best. Follow tire pressures when towing and at the cold 35 PSI the temperature gain was more than when having the cold pressure set at 38 PSI. Basically hot running temperatures will be about the same.
