If he broke the OPG... that confirms it for me that Ford put the fluid dampener on the mustang for a good reason.

Guys, buy an ATI dampener for your high revving **** and thank me later.

He had an upgraded OPG on the shelf, he just hasn't installed it yet. This was a reply he gave in his thread over on the F150 5.0 High Performance page on Facebook that I am a member of. Anyone can join it if you have a 5.0. I have little to offer, but love seeing the builds and numbers they get out of their trucks.

The culprit as guessed... I've seen more posts about these gears than anything else on the 5.0's. I know every engine has a "weak spot" but it's a damn shame the lower end of the coyotes are so robust except for this one simple part. I know Ford wants to save pennies but damn. (20:27 for the OPG)

Dorian has a new video where they pull the engine and tear down the oil pump. It gets interesting at about 21 minutes.

The real question is did any trash get circulated through the motor. He did have it running for a long time after the gears failed, and if any of those particles squeezed passed the oil filter they could have done some damage elsewhere. Time will tell I guess.

I'm also curious if he was running 5W-50 oil like Whipple and Roush are now recommending.
