Default Roush sc

I’m going to a Ford dealer tomorrow to get a quote for a Roush supercharger and install for my 18 5.0. I know a few people have gotten this recently, does anyone mind telling me their price paid, and if they had a dealer do the install? Thanks.

I strongly suggest you consider a whipple. The advantages are countless.

They are 12-18 hrs to install so figure shop rate times that. About a grand give or take.

Just curious, care to elaborate (maybe on just the top 3 advantages)? Any known disadvantages/cons? Is it a trade-off of absolute performance for better reliability/longevity, or is one better for street vs. race, better warranty, etc.?

1. 100 rwhp more with a Whipple for what amounts to the same price.
2. Easier, reversible install for the Whipple
3. Both offer a warranty, neither should cause issues if running stock Whipple or Roush tune
4. Both are usually available through a Ford dealership (My Whipple was installed by the dealer at a price that beat the local shops)

Roush is smaller, smaller intercooler, smaller throttle body, (at least 100 hp difference) and much more difficult to install.

ltnbolt posted just the other day: "I read the install instructions on the 2018 F150 5.0 Roush supercharger just to see what all is involved. It looks to be a PITA compared to the Whipple. The A/C clutch has to be pulled. The Harmonic Balancer has to be pulled. The normal grinding and such on the timing cover has to be done like past kits. I don't know for the life of me why Roush can't make a FEAD system like Whipple and Edelbrock that doesn't require butchering up the timing cover...."

Some of us are a little flustered with the whipple cal but keep in mind we are early adopters and in years past whipple perfected the tune.

The tune that I got 2 days ago is the best yet. It is close to perfect unless it adapts some crazy habits. It has been 2 days so I don't think it will change.

Just saw a post on Facebook by 5 Star Tuning about their Roush install on a 2018 F150. With the Roush tune it only put down 494/482. I'd be super pissed if I dropped almost $10K and that was the result. They were able to pick up 80HP or so with custom tuning, but now you are back in the world of NO WARRANTY on a very expensive truck.
