Default Sputter/missing sounds when accelerating

Hi all,
new the this website but have visited before to read about f-150s. I have a 2013 3.5 v6 eco boost and I have been noticing a distinct sputter sound when accelerating. Instead of the smooth sound of the turbo when it kicks in, it sputters very bad and doesn’t seem to be running all that great. Any tips on what could be going on here would be greatly appreciated!

Change the spark plugs. Buy better gas.

Check for any stored codes. Also, I would look into the fuel system/ pressure, change the filter if it old.It may be in the tank however.

I guess I should clarify a little bit. My truck takes off just fine it just seems like when the turbo goes to kick in there is a spitting sound instead of the smooth normal Sound of a turbo kicking in. Could this still be something to do with the spark plugs or fuel? Or do you think you would be a problem with the turbo system?

Start with the plugs. Ford recommends 100,000 miles but that is absurd. Use ONLY Motorcraft SP534’s and gap them at .030”. You should also replace the plug boots.
how many miles are on the truck?
There are also Many threads on this forum about drilling a “weep” hole in the inter cooler. Do some searching and read up on this “free” mod. You may be experiencing the effects of condensation and sludge being sucked into the intake under boost.

103,000 miles on it, I have seen the weep hole method and did that. Going to change out the plugs this weekend. That you for the information!

Did you just do the weep hole recently? You might want to also think about cleaning the MAP sensors.
Keep us posted.

UPDATE** After changing the plugs and boots I can definitely feel the difference in power, but the sputter is still there while accelerating. I’m not too in depth with knowledge about these engines but if I was to guess it sounds like the sputter could be coming from a release valve in the turbo??

I drilled the weep weep hole last summer, felt like it worked for awhile but then went back to this. Would re-drilling the hole be a good idea?

thank you all for the help!
