Default Second blown spark plug...

About a year ago plug #3 blew. Used a professional sleeve repair kit. Today same plug blew again. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the head?

Plz post in your thread or signature what year trk/model/engine spark plug number etc. etc.....then we know what you are working on !!
I presume 04-08 F150 5.4 or 4.6 engine judging by your repair of the 1st plug....
I don't know if you can even try to re-install a 2nd heli-coil but it might be worth a try ???
I had 4 repairs on a hi-mileage 4.6 but never a 2nd on the same plug....Good Luck!!

Nope, if the plug blew a second time, the head is junk. No more threads to put a third repair. Even if you cut new threads, the cylinder head walls are so thin, you risk going through a water jacket.

Yes, Time-sert big sert. Find a shop that uses time sert. You have to go with a Big Sert repair now, -can be done in under an hour.

It's better if you google it yourself, that way you get all the details. If you used a Big Sert already, then your out of luck, heads wasted.

It must have been another style - there's no way a TimeSert will blow out. I've installed dozens of them. The first is shown in this photo album:

I don’t have the kit in front of me but it definitely wasn’t what you’re showing here. It was a black case like that but with no markings on it. Bought it off a guy in a MAC tool truck. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

can van kit is the only one to use on the triton engine. I’ve had a few blow out. I use the cal van kit 38900 for the two valve engine 4.6 5.4 and the 6.8 v ten this kit is for the two valve . Both the spark plugs that have blow out have over 150000 miles on them now and they have never blown out again. You use this kit you will never have another blown plug. The also make a kit for the 3 valve engine
