Default Pre oiling engine

2008 4.6 8 CYL
Where is the correct tie in location to attach an engine pre oiling fitting? This would access both bottom and top?

If you're thinking of just "FORCING" oil through a completely assembled engine, the only reasonable place I can think of would be the oil pressure switch fitting, or the oil filter connection (which seems like it would be more difficult).

Thanks for the idea of the oil pressure switch fitting to access pre-lubing an engine that has been sitting for 7 months. If the switch is upstream of the crankshaft oil passages, the oil should flow to the crankshaft. However, if the switch is located downstream of all the oil passages, can I be sure I would still force oil to the crankshaft?

Your oil pressure sending unit is immediately downstream of the oil filter - at the very beginning of the oil crankshaft / oil galleys of the block. From there you should be doing exactly what the oil pump does after forcing oil through the filter.

Why not put the gas pedal on the floor, or disconnect the crank position sensor plug and crank it over with the starter, without doing it up, a few times? Save yourself some trouble.

after 7 months, I think I'd want to get some oil in the lash adjusters before I made them do any actual work.

Your over thinking things, just start the truck and let it idle for a couple mins then go about your drive, no harm will be done.

With the gas pedal on the floor, are the ignition coils not powered--can this be done with the spark plugs out of the engine and ignition coils not grounded? There was also a suggestion of pulling the relay on the PCM--this would allow having the spark plugs out of the engine and ignition coils not installed I believe. However, in both of these scenarios, is the starter going to rotate the oil pump fast enough to build oil pressure? Or is it a diminishing situation where the oil pressure is not high enough to keep oil in the bearing surfaces and the rotation does more harm than good? Will oil pressure be available at the instrument cluster with the PCM relay fuse out?
