I'm going to go ahead and call that a bit of a stretch.

If you crank the engine and immediately red-line the poor bugger, yeah... I could see rockers coming off.

Cranking the engine at 150-250RPM or whatever the starter can put out isn't going to cause such rapid motions up top that the springs inside the lashers won't be able to keep up with applying tension to the followers.


This is assuming that the lash adjusters have actually collapsed under years of pressure and being held in one position. I mean they probably have, but I'm not pulling his rocker box covers off to find out...

Its a gamble, I always try to error on the safe side. If its not a new build probably be fine. Sitting for a couple of months without running shouldn't have allowed the lifter to have leaked down, hopefully not.
