I hear you about the gasket price. The thing is that I won’t have to remove the cover as often....I installed a drain plug.

I've been thinking about doing the same when I change mine next week. Definitely worth the time!

Once you use one of
 these these
, you will never mess with sealants ever again. I loved the Lube Locker on my Mustang, and it never gave me any issues despite numerous hard launches. I'd have used one on my 9.75" F150, except my overpriced and worthless AFE diff cover already had an o-ring for sealing.

The Lube Locker is completely reusable too, and is only $20.

That looks like a good product, with it's multiple beads.

You guys concerned with not getting all of the fluid out using a drain plug? I know on mine ('04 XLT with the 3.73 limited slip 9.75" ring) there was a decent amount of fluid in the bottom and front of the differential that didn't drain even after taking the cover off. Had to use some shop towels to soak it up/pull it all out.

Need to park the front tires on some rhino ramps lol. Use gravity to your advantage.

You brought a legitimate point. I’m not personally concerned because I mitigate the risk associated with the small un-drained amount of oil by the more frequent oil drains that a drain plug provides.

All in all, the average contamination level is lower when draining often compare to drain at recommended interval with manual cleaning (oil analysis show it)
