Hey guys so I came to the forums because I can’t seem to find my PCV valve. I have a 02 f150 4.2l v6 but I replaced the motor and I’m getting the code P0171 lean code in bank one. One of the problems it could possibly be is the PCV valve. The only problem with the motor I put in is I’m not sure what it came out of because it is not exactly the same as the one I pulled out. I was wondering if anyone on here might know of different models of Ford that was also built with a 4.2l around the same year so that way I can look into those. Every video I’ve looked up I’ve checked where that PCV valve is and I can’t seem to find it in the same area. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

What's different? Take a picture. What did you remove it from? Or did you buy it already removed?
And where's the old engine? Might offer some clues. My Workshop manual shows it as in the intake manifold, with a hose to the valve cover grommet (correcting earlier mistake). Follow the hose from the valve cover, it should lead to the valve.
So these are the only pictures really have that might be able to help anyone. The first one is when I just started to pull the motor. The second one is the pulled motor and the replacement motor side by side. The one on the right is the old motor. This has been a project for over the course of almost two years so I don't remember every detail of the old motor, which was stock. The main difference I noticed was the dipstick from my old motor was too long to fit into the new one without sticking out about half an inch. And the only reason I did not use the old one was because the end you use to pull it out was snapped off.
The motor on the right looks familiar, but the one on the left has a different valve cover. What happened to the valve covers from the old motor?
Anyway, you can see the PCV port on the back of the passenger side valve cover, for the new motor. Follow that hose up to the intake manifold. The PCV valve has water lines connected to it, two. The whole point of the valve is to pull crankcase fumes in to the intake manifold to be reburned. Consider that when you're looking for it. It's a pretty big hole.
If I remember correctly I gave the old valve cover to the place I bought the new motor from. So its not the original valve cover from the motor that was on the truck stock.
To be clear I'm going off the pictures from a 2000 workshop manual. I just watched a video and the guy pulled it from the valve cover, not the intake manifold. So, I don't have actual experience doing this. I'm learning from your problem. Some of the guys get mad because I talk about things I don't know about. But that's how I learn.
Al I really know is that the back of the passenger side valve cover is where the port is. And it's hard to get to.
Here's the drawing from the workshop manual, year 2000. It's looking more like the back of the valve cover. But the later PCV's have an o-ring that looks like it belongs somewhere else.
Here's the back of my 2003. All I see is an elbow where various videos show the complete PCV. You can see the FPR in the lower right, to compare to the workshop drawing. I don't have the space to climb in and find my own PCV right now. A new project. Good luck to you.
