Default O2 sensor CEL problem

Hello all,

So I threw a CEL awhile ago. Scanned and it was O2 sensor. Had it replaced by my mechanic. I initially forgot to take it on a long drive. I only drove home, about 20 miles. Stopped to shop, got back in and the light came back on. My bad I know. So last night I disconnected the battery for 45 minutes and then took the truck on a 110 mile real good ride. Most of the time I was at 65 mph give or take, No CEL, Started the truck this morning and still no CEL. About 1/4 mile into the drive it came back on. If I remember the codes from when I had it scanned they were (1) P2272 and then there were 2 codes each of P0060. All were bank 2 sensor 2. Gave them to my mechanic before he changed the sensor. It's a 2007 Ford F150 XLT 4.2l V6. 80,000 miles. I just bought it used 3 weeks ago and I need this CEL done so it can get inspected. And I am in NY. That 110 mile drive should have taken care of it, Wh would it not show after the long ride but show up the next morning. I am sooooo frustrated. Any thoughts or ideas?

Not really. Truck runs pretty good. I just need this light and monitors to clear so I can get it inspected. We installed a new Bosch sensor. It should have worked

Many times people change the O2 sensors unnecessarily when the sensors are presenting a symptom of another issue. I would take it back and have your mechanic actually troubleshoot the problem, other than changing a sensor and giving you a bill.

He did run an OMDB scan on it a number of times. I also had it scanned at least twice at AutoZone. Each ready from both parties always matched.

causes for said codes

P2272
  • Pinched, shorted, and corroded wiring and pins
  • Crossed HO2S wires
  • Exhaust leaks
  • Contaminated or damaged HO2S
P0060
  • VPWR circuit open
  • HO2S heater circuit open
  • HO2S heater circuit short in the harness
  • Damaged HO2S heater
time to check wiring!

Good stuff DJ. For now I am going to continue driving it and see if it clears by itself. If it doesn't work the next step is he wants me to bring the truck back to him so he can hook it up to something called an "IDS" I think.
