it can help, but NO scan tool can point you exactly to the problem child. All the code means is there is a problem with a particular system or circuit. NOT a part. Its time to break out a volt meter and check wiring

I have to give the update on this. It's worth it. Turns out I had another major repair and I ended up taking the truck to another mechanic. I told them if they wanted a whack at the CEL to go ahead and see what they find. I told them what had been done to date. In the end they found that my mechanic had accidentally put the new O2 sensor in the wrong place. He put it in the passenger side when it should have been the drivers side. Truck is now inspected
