Default Need help

2001 ford f150 4.6 supercrew I purchased the cylinder head temp sensor and found the location wich is rite by the thermostat on drivers side but on the passenger side in the back there is a threaded hole that looks just like the one in the front but nothing is there and I don't see any wires isn't that for another temp sensor?

Might be a knock sensor hole. Who knows. Why worry about it?

That's where the sensor was on my 2004 5.4. I removed the alternator and reached up under the manifold to change it blind.

Somebody out here probably knows but you need to add more information. Like why is it all torn apart and did you buy it that way or did you take it apart yourself? What's the back story? The guys that know stuff like to be entertained. I don't know much about the V8's.

Do the threads in the hole look like they had something in them before? Not uncommon for manufacturers to have features that are only used in certain models.

p.s. Just saw the last response. I did look in my 2003 manual and it shows the CHTS on the left head but it also shows, in the illustration, the empty hole on the right head. All in the same labeled drawing. CHTS on the left, empty hole on the right. 2003.

I have a 2000 manual also and it shows the CHTS on the front left also. Nothing on the right rear.

Probably be for the same sensor if the head was switched to the opposite side.

Thumbs up

you could install a CHTS there if needed. like if your current CHTS failed and it stripped out .An axillary port you could call it. you would have to add wire and the connector to the wire harness. I have seen it before on a used 2001 f150

I see this post is old but if you look at your heads there are the same. This gen 4.6 the heads are both left and right. This threaded hole is for your temp sensor. Also look at you intake gaskets they are the same also. I hope this helps.
