Default IWE?

So my 06 f150 fx4 4x4 hi light wont come on. It's not the bulb because it works when I do a light check. The front hubs engage sporadically or not at all. I found this problem when my son turned the switch to 4hi without me knowing and I had no indication in the cab. The only reason I noticed is because my wheels started skipping in a turn. Is it my IWE solenoid?

That would be the first thing to try...you sure the engagement is sporadic with no light...or
you just did not notice till you turned ? can you hear the IWE's making noise ?

I first noticed it because of the skipping. I will have to check the iwe when I hit the switch to know for sure. What kind of sound is it supposed to make?

I checked the plug and it looks fine. I'm going to clean it and try it again. When I switch it to 4low, the light flashes but doesn't stay on. And I hear a clicking noise when I turn the selector switch.

Yeah it just flashes and nothing happens. I checked the IWE and visually it looks fine though that doesn't mean anything.

It couldn't be the switch motor? I've heard of them going bad as well.
