Default Engine Heating Up

Hi everybody :
I had a recent situation where my 2006 F150 4.2L V6 started losing power. And I noticed a little smoke coming out from under the hood. The gauges read normally. Steering and brakes work fine. The shifter functioned normally (standard transmission), One this I can't find any resources about is this reservoir. Apparently, the cap "came off". I'm not sure what type of fluid is in it.

Update
Sorry about "going on" about this. But, here's another shot of this reservoir. Apparently, it feeds into....what COULD be....the water pump ? The large hose is coming from the bottom of that large reservoir (with no cap).

I'm not debating you or arguing you response. But HOW could the depletion of power steering fluid cause a loss of power. The reason I say this is because, in the process of getting my truck home.....the steering seemed to function properly. And, being a manual transmission truck, the clutch and transmission worked as expected. Just the loss of engine power. I'm looking into have a mechanic check it out.

"post hoc, ergo, propeter hoc" After this, therefore because of this.

In this case it's a logic fallacy. Your power steering reservoir likely has nothing to do with your power issue, but your power issue caused you to open the hood, whereupon you saw the cap off the power steering reservoir, therefore that MUST be the problem.

...but it's not.

Mite be a Problem if the big hose going from the power steering to the radiator is clogged.
