Default Amsoil

Hey guys, so I am running the AMSOIL through my 2006 f-150 5.4, and have so far put about 17,000 miles on it without having it changed. Now they say you can run 25,000 miles and not need to have it changed, but how true is that? Anyone else ran a complete 25,000 through your truck? Thanks for the info.

One of the Amsoil dealers told me that also. However, I'd have the oil analyzed immediately to see if it is still up to snuff. The test is cheap compared to damaging your engine.

Definitely have your oil checked! have you changed the filter yet? Most filters are only good for up to 10K miles.

I haven't had it changed, but that is a good idea!! I'll have it checked tomorrow, so far I've been impressed with this oil!!

By all means have you motor oil analyzed. If fact this is a great thing to do at any rate.If you are looking at a used truck tack a small sample of the oil and send it here:
http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php They send you the kit for free send it back with the oil sample and 25 dollars and you can find out all kinds of information about you oil as well as the condition of the engine. This is also a great thing to do with your transmission, and transfer case..

wow.. 25k.. ive ran my royal purple to 15k before i was in the hospital.. and my g.f was driving back and forth and what not... but i changed my filter at 15k... drove it aobut 300 miles.. and then changed oil and filter ...

my royal purple right now is at about 10k.. and im going to change it...

if you drive your truck hard at all...there no way i would let it go over 15k...

I've been using Amsoil for almost 15 years, good stuff.

My wifes 2000 5.0 mountaineer with 175k has had 11 oil changes. some years have seen 20k plus in mileage. We've owned since new. 17mpg PURRSS!

My 2002 F-350 work truck w/5.4 has 195k has had 9 oil changes. Looks like hell, but runs great. Full work body and ladder rack. consistent 13mpg

Both vehicles also have Amsoil EAO oil filters and air filters changed Jan2 every year

I personally have never sent off for oil analysis. But it's good idea

I've been using Amsoil since 2001 in everything that runs on gas and my rule of thumb is change all vehicles every 6 months no matter what the mileage is....oil does get dirty(I don't care what you're using) and the dirty is what does the damage. Amsoil doesn't give up it's protection for a very long time but it gets dirty from the combustables. If I was to run mine 25,000 miles I would be changing the filter at 5,000 miles intervals. IMHO!

FYI for you guys still under warranty. Fords warranty does state you must follow their recommended maintenence schedule for your factory warranty to remain valid. With the way the economy is, most dealerships are now requiring proof of this maintenence when a warranty issue comes up. i.e. engine failure.

Now with that said, Amsoil is some great stuff and I have run it in many vehicles. But I just couldn't leave it in for 25,000 miles. I always intended to, but I just couldnt take it anymore and had to change it around 15k...haha

Amsoil dealer and user here...

I have used Amsoil in every vehicle I have ever had and its great stuff.

The recomended drain is 25K or 1 year...however if you are worried I would deffinatly do like others have said and get an oil annalysis.

I had an 87 Chevy K5 Blazer and ran Amsoil in it...I would do oil annalysis on it...I went 170K on one oil change, we did an oil analysis and it came back and said the oil was STILL good for continued use!

It's amazing stuff! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you are interested!
