Default ABS light

Ok, I know it's dangerous, but.....
My ABS light has been on for a while. Back brakes lock up, so I really think the ABS system is gone, but can't afford to fix it right now ($$$$).
How can I disconnect the light?

Thanks.

It's not that dangerous. People have driven cars for many years before ABS came out. You can have the ABS computer read to see what the problem is. It's usually a sensor problem. Or learn to deal with the light, or pull the bulb.

I'm with Sean, the ABS [RABS] is about worthless on a F150. I do think the lock up is causing the ABS light to come on. If you have drums take the off and use some 180 or 220 grit sandpaper and knock the glaze off the brake shoes then wash them with water and they should stop locking up for a while. Had the same problem with my 98 and had to do this about every 8 months.

Default abs

Thanks for your help guys....I'm going to try the sandpaper, then pull the bulb (how do I get to it?) if that doesn't work.
I'm not much of a mechanic.....how do I get to the bulb?
Thanks for all your help,
John

Years back, mid eighties, brakes would lock up because of out of round drums. Perhaps this is his problem, not the ABS not functioning correctly. Just a thought.

Thanks for the fix idea Cole Ford. My wife's son Expy has the ABS light coming on at times then goes out. How much was that sensor anyway?
