Default 2016 IWE problems

Recently I’ve had a grinding noise in 2wd that will go away when put into 4H. I changed out my solenoid and my check valve and neither of those worked. I tried to just ride with the solenoid unplugged and now have a sound constantly when in 2wd but not the sound of nails in a can it’s more like a constant ticking machine. Still only happens in 2wd though. Could the actuators be shot from the grinding?

Here’s the sound before unplugging solenoid

Here’s sound w solenoid unplugged

I think this is what I'm hearing in the second video. There's too much wind noise for me to be sure.

Is there a way to bypass the IWE system or delete it without having the 4a option

All I know is, you have a 2016 F150, more info would be great.
At any rate, yes, you can either disconnect the vacuum source and plug the lines at the source, or, you can just pull the power at the solenoid.
The video I attached, is that what you're hearing?

Do you have any more info on this solution?

I "fixed" this problem with a new
check valve check valve
, but it has returned ~8000 miles later (less than 1 yr). I'm going to pop the new one on later today. One of the barbed ends is slightly larger than the original blue valve that was replaced, but it still fit snug. Last time I replaced this, manually pulling a vacuum proved to me it was the valve. Also, the old valve had a intermittent failure when I tested as well.

@benton4williams , I too worry about what may have been ground away. I'm in a 2020 xlt 3.5. The only time I got the can noise was when on the expressway going 70. When in the city I get the other noise. It still is infrequent.

If you don't have 4A, you don't have the TOD Tcase, you have the ESOF, XLT on down. You can still do this if you want, but you can also pull the power to the solenoid, and accomplish the same thing.

Solenoid is electrical device right side of photo.
