Your F150-How important was engine choice
The reason I ask this is because of all the threads where it's ecoboost vs
5.0 and sometimes turns into my d*ck is bigger than yours contest.
Before I got my 16 screw 5.0 I had a couple of months to read every review
and watch every youtube video on both ecoboost engines and the 5.0. What
I got from this was they were all very capable and reliable engines as a mass produced engine can be.
When I went to look for my truck the engine didn't matter. I wanted a White
Plat Lariat with tan interior, 502a pkg and 20inch as chrome pvd wheels with
power deployable boards. They found this truck 140 miles away and it
happened to have the 5.0. If it had had either of the two ecoboost engines
that would have been fine also. I knew any of them would tow what I was
going to tow and had confidence in any of them.
So I was curious how many of you HAD to have the engine of your choice
before you would buy the truck.

I've owned a 2011 Fx4 ecoboost, a 2014 FX4 ecoboost and now I'm trading it for a 2016 Lariat Special Edition with 5.0 engine. The ecoboost is a great engine and I love the sound of the turbos. The fuel mileage experienced on both was disappointing. That is why I wanted a 5.0. Figured it's as capable as the ecoboost. Plus the gas mileage can't be worse.

I just bought a used 2013 FX4 that had all the options I wanted. It has the ecoboost, but if it would have been the 5.0 I would have still bought it. Either one will work fine for my use. I was considering getting a new leftover 2015 with the 2.7 ecoboost. Point is, just like you the engine wasn't the make or break part for me, any of them would have been fine

I would not have purchased my truck were it not for the 2.7L EB.
I'm obsessed with this engine!

engine didn't matter for me.
I found merit in both the 5.0 and 2.7
5.0 is just soooo smooth.. I love it.
but 2.7 is more powerful.
I like either one. My car just happened to have the 2.7

I had 2 previous 5.0's and I compromised on other features on both of those trucks. I was dead set against the Ecoboost at that time. When I bought my 16 I had a change of heart and decided I only wanted the 3.5 Ecoboost. Dealer found me a truck that matched every other detail I wanted except it was a 5.0. I declined and held out for the 3.5 and I'm really glad I did.

Engine choice was very important to me. What I absolutely wanted in my new truck was a crew cab, 6.5' bed, V-8 and tow package. Only Ford and GM offered this exact combo and I will not buy a GM truck with their ****ty AFM motors. The 5.0 F-150 was what was left and I love it.

Very important to me. I knew I wanted to tune my engine and the Ecoboost is the hands down winner in that department. Nothing wrong with the 5.0 though. I like the rush of the turbos, so I never considered a 5.0.
