Your F150-How important was engine choice

When I was shopping for a truck my requirements were a SCrew 4x4 XLT with the 302a package. I was flexible on the color and engine but wanted Blue Flame and the 2.7. Ended up working out well since I found exactly what I wanted on the lot.

i wanted to wait for a diesel in the f150 but after reading review on the 2.7l and having exactly the truck i wanted on the lot with the 2.7l i had to have it. great engine and good fuel economy. did 10.7L/100km on our last road trip

When I started shopping F150's the engine choice was a "negotiable". As I got further along on the process it became a non-negotiable. In fact the dealer I bought my truck from had everything I wanted in a 5.0 version and traded with another dealer to get the 3.5 EcoBoost I wanted. I had to pony up for a couple of added items, factory spray in bed liner and LT tires that weren't on my list. I'm happy with the bed liner and glad I got it, LT tires so far are pretty much tires.

I bought my truck off the lot. I had no knowledge of motor choices at the time.
I took it on a test drive and it was plenty smooth, fast, and everything in between. The sales guy said it could tow a lot. I never tow more than a little so I knew this would work just fine.
I am glad I have the 2.7, it's a really nice motor.

Was very important to me as well.
For MY NEEDs, the 2.7 was the best choice. I seldom use my truck as a truck; more like a car with a large trunk. I wanted the best fuel economy I could get.
However, on those RARE occasions when I really use my truck like a truck, I wanted to have the power to be able to tow/haul a decent load.
So for my needs, the 2.7 was the best fit.
I have previously owned an F150 with the 5.0. Its a GREAT engine as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any engine, as long as it fits your needs and tastes.

My last truck was a 2011 F350 6.2 with 4:30 elocker. I wanted a 2015 150 with the max towing so it was the 3.5 EB. This is my first EB and I love driving in sport mode.

5.0 or 3.5EB were both fine by me.
I do love the '5.0 has to work too hard towing' comments. It either tows it or it doesn't. There is no such thing as 'working too hard'. If you get stressed out while towing because OMG the trans did its job and downshifted on a hill and the engine is spinning at 3800rpm, that's on you because the truck is doing its job.

I test drove both and the 3.5EB was a clear winner. The 5.0 is a fine engine, but the EB overall seemed like a better choice. In Sport mode, the EB is amazing. Haven't noticed hardly any turbo lag since I switched to 93 octane.
