Why not? its Physics, every vehicle component is designed to absorb a certain amount of energy from an impact. in his case the bumper took it, which is good..... if the bumper was soo ridged then that excess energy would be transfered to the frame and bending that..... which are you better off with? A bent bumper or a bent frame?..... ill take a bent bumper, get it replaced and then be on my way

Or a bent neck or head! The crush is there to protect the occupants, not any of the vehicles other components.

Indeed they are sir. Geco got me in with an estimate, 1700. Notable is 350 for the bumper, 600 for the ACC sensor installed and aimed (they have to pay the dealer for that) and the rest in removal/install labor to transplant fog lamps, new plastic brackets, etc.

Next up take a defensive driver course, throw away the smartphone and get a pager...and lock it in the glovebox

Or develop a modicum of self-control

There are apps that will forcibly lock your phone when you get over a certain speed.

Put your &%$#-ing phone down. I stopped riding motorcycles because of brain-dead ****bags staring at their phones. Their idiocy makes my pastime too dangerous.

As for bumper upgrades, I got a new-old stock Fab Fours bumper from a great shop in TX for $350. I got the ACC module relocation bracket from them for around $90, then moved the radar module into the grille and calibrated it on my own. The bumper is plate steel, and there is no give or crumple zone. For that reason alone, I don't recommend it as a fix for you. Get another stock bumper, so that the next time this happens, it'll cause as little damage as possible. Had you run into a motorcyclist, you could have seriously hurt them. At least with stock equipment, you'll minimize the hazard you impose on other drivers.
