I can believe this. The key start uses the same switch that the PB does. With the key start, it is not necessary to hold the key in the start position. Just turn it all the way forward and let it go. It just needs to make contact.

So I would imagine it is a higher cost to add the key cylinder, etc. to the steering column.

Although it's a terrible inconvenience to have to reach into my pocket and pull out a key to start my F150 I have so far managed. Seriously, I was amazed at the many features that came with my XLT. But I'm old and can still remember getting excited about my first vehicle to have intermittent wipers.

I don't know. It's nice to not have to take the "key" (fob) out of my pocket to get into or access the car at all. Have both hands full with groceries or something and its nice to just get up to it, grab the handle, hop in and push a button. I've been in a push button for three years now and have never had the battery die on me. Car tells me when the battery is dying and I replace it.

Now that you say that I do remember that too. I remember back then the Foxbody mustangs ignitions were complete junk and went out multiple times a year
