You should read your manual. The IOLM will alert you at 10,000 miles, 1 year, or when it needs replacing, whichever comes first.

Someone has reset your IOLM.

Im gonna chime in here as well. One should never exceed 1 year on their oil even if it has a small number of miles on it. The acids in the oil will eat away at the bearing surfaces resulting in pitting.

Something is either wrong with you OLM or someone has reset it. The last place I would let change my oil is one of those quick lane places.

I agree completely. There are some oil guru's on here that PREACH to follow the manual when they don't follow it. If the oil doesn't have 10K miles on it at the end of the year they wait until they have more miles on it..... yet they continue to preach about following the manual. Why would you jump in to every oil thread when in turn you don't follow it?

OP: your engine will be just fine. Enjoy your truck.

No longer true. Acid buildup in oil were due to lead salts from leaded gas and sulfuric acid from the sulfur in gas, both of which are long gone.

Heres a little chemistry for you that should change your mind. If you have some science to refute the info below, im all ears.

The hydrocarbons found in good motor oil contain carbon-carbon multiple bonds. Of greatest importance are the double bonds. Written –C=C–, at high temperatures these bonds react with oxygen molecules (O₂), cleaving them into shorter molecules called carboxylic acids, named for the carboxyl group, –COOH.

R–HC=CH–R’ + 2 O₂ → R–COOH + HOOC–R’

This represents motor oil degradation in more than one way. First, the molecule has been split into two smaller molecules. This results in a decrease in oil viscosity. Second, the new molecules are not simply hydrocarbons, but are acids; they erode slightly exposed metallic surfaces. Finally, the metal that was attacked forms salts with the carboxylic acids, liberating hydrogen gas.

2 R-COOH + 2 M → 2 R-COO⁻M⁺ + H₂↑
If motor oil is not changed regularly, carboxylic acids raise oil acidity to damaging levels and lubrication is seriously reduced—eventually resulting in excessive engine wear, plug fouling, and polluting oil-smoke emissions are released into the atmosphere. This is why changing the oil in a vehicle is one of the most important measures in maintaining engine life.

What you are saying about oil oxidation forming carboxylic acids is true for conventional oil, hence the much shorter oil change intervals.

Synthetic oil does not have the carbon double bonds, does not oxidize readily and does not form carboxylic acids.

While what you are saying may or may not be true since you didn't post any data or science to back up your claim. The makeup of the oil has nothing to do with your previous post regarding leaded fuel or sulphur.

This is why I stopped buying used trucks lol. Maybe this is a troll post?
