Default Is it worth it?

I'm thinking about getting a 17 and I see the deals look a little better in Texas than here in Iowa. Would it be worth making a deal in Texas and drive down with my trade in. Are there any dealers in Texas I should stay away from? Thanks

Depends on what the tax difference is (if any) and how much your time and the mileage is worth.

Take a look at Mak Haik Ford's website, pretty straight pricing there before you come down. http://www.machaikford.com/

Based on my personal bad experiences, I would stay away from Joe Myers Ford and Tomball Ford.

I thought I had read sometime back, but could be wrong, rebate stuff is based on your home/registering address??????

I'd check out Brandon Ford too, in Tampa, FL (if you're willing to travel)
brandonford.com
they have something like 500-600 F150's on the lot at any given time.

This is correct from what I remember because I went outside of my zip code to buy. However, their pricing could still be better. Just be up front with the salesman you call to discuss pricing if you think that going might be worth it.

I know when I bought my truck a few weeks ago I paid sales tax based on the state I intend to register the vehicle even though I bought it in a state with a higher tax rate. Is that not the same everywhere?

I looked into this not long ago for my daughter. As far as taxes, you will pay the taxes to the state where you will register the car. The dealer usually takes care of it for you. Also you have to consider, if your state has different emissions laws. I found some useful here:

bought mine here. They were easy to deal with and didn't try any bait and switch tactics.

Default Very, very important

Always remember that rebates are based on where you register the vehicle. I drove 75 miles to buy my truck and because of rebates being based on Ford regions, I took a $4500 hit on my final price.

You'll pay taxes and get rebates based on where you register the truck in Iowa.

Here is where I bought my truck, they have people fly in and they pick them up at the airport. Note, you can drive down, it's less than 700 miles from Demoines. If you get a 2017 with the 36 gallon tank, you might make the return trip in a single tank since it's under 700 miles/ 10hrs. They list discounted prices on their website...

I was very pleased with my experience and my sales guy. Straight shooter, no BS....honestly, he was probably the best car/truck salesman I've ever dealt with. All the paperwork was done in 15 minutes and I was on my way...but I didn't have a trade-in and wasn't financing. I highly recommend these guys.

Note....I just noticed this is the same dealer that Tsigwing recommended....that's 2 for Holiday.
