Wiring Aux. Reverse Lights
Hey guys, I'm new here, just picked up a 2015 XLT SCREW about a week ago.
I've been searching for some decent info on wiring auxiliary reverse LEDs and kept coming up with tons of conflicting info.
I finally found a PDF form JCR Offload (?) that appears to have reliable schematics. I've attached the file to this post.
Hopefully this helps someone out as much as it helped me.
Currently working on installing a switch panel for some accessories along with getting the truck set up to my liking.

I have a pair of LED spotlight pods I riveted onto the bottom of my hitch. Use a simple 4-pin relay ("RL44" at Autozone) and splice into the wires by your reverse light sockets. Use your hitch wiring (4/7 pin harness) hot wire to provide power. There are several existing ground screws you can piggyback off of for both the lights and the relay. You can find these with a flashlight and 30 seconds under the back of your truck. Use this strategy and your auxiliaries will automatically kick on every time you shift into reverse. It's a lifesaver at night if you get your front side windows tinted.

I tapped into the back side if the hitch harness, center wire IIRC. No need for a relay since that wire is already designed to handle reverse lights on the trailer.

I wanted to include a SPST toggle switch to allow the lights to be switched on manually. A Google search revealed MANY variations of wiring, some of which appeared to be inaccurate.
That file I posted above seems to have the most accurate info and offers several variations.

Erik,
here's what I drew up last fall for 2000 f150 xlt and I am in the process of doing the same for my new 2016 f150 xlt. see attached diagram. the RED and BLACK show the active circuit.
prior to reworking my wiring, everything was just on the reverse light circuit of the truck. when I wanted to load the boat at o'dark thirty to go fishing, I had to engage the emergency brake, then take the truck out of park with the key on. I always worried about the truck and trailer rolling down the driveway so this was my NEW solution.

btw, the relays and switch are shown in the non powered and off state... when the relays are powered and the switch is flipped, the contact points are reversed. I didn't draw this for anyone but myself but I thought it fit your request.
my plan was also to NOT leave the lights on without the ignition being in the on position or the shifter being in reverse.

Mudder,
that looks good... I was thinking of sending a fish tape through the frame on the drives side. I don't know if it's hollow from bumper to bumper but that would protect the wire if it's in that black flex pipe like you have yours. I'm just getting started.
