Default Window Tinting

I have a 2017 SCREW with a black interior and it gets hot in the sun. So I want to tint the windows darker. But I have no clue on how much. I don't want them too dark. So what is everyone doing to theirs for tinting?

really depends on how often you want to be bothered by the police or failing an inspection. different states have different laws regarding how dark you can tint which windows.

I was looking at this on Tuesday and did a quick search on the forum and found 20% tint will match what your rear windows have. 35% is considered "legal", but if your like me and thousands of other guys who want the windows to match it will be 20% on the fronts......

If you have the pano roof, don't forget to tint it as well. A clear ceramic like Llumar Air 80 does wonders for heat.

Check your tint laws for your state. The back windows are already tinted so you might get away with just doing the front windows and using a sun screen during the day for the windshield. Thats what I do.

In Louisiana it's supposed to be 45%. I always do 35% and nev r have any issues with getting pulled over or getting an inspection sticker. I've had 20% years ago on another vehicle and actually got pulled over several times for windows too dark. 35% is a good compromise for me. I have a friend that has a light meter and he put it on my back window and it read 22%. So, 20% should match the back windows.

Fyi- I just recently tinted the front windows on my 17 lariat. I've tinted plenty of windows in my past. The hardest part for me has always been getting them cut to size. This time I ordered them already precut, they worked great. I will definitely go that route again. I ordered mine from a company called "filmvantage" on enay. They sell the good quality 3M tint. I'm am extremely pleased with them and customer service was great also.

The law where I am states 35%. I did 20% on the fronts to match the back, and I've never had a problem

If you go below 20% you will have a hard time seeing to back up at night. I had 5% limo tint on the rear window and extended cab vent windows of a Sonoma and would not do it again. I personally like 20% on the rear windows and 35% on the fronts.

50% is good, IMO. Best of both worlds. I'm pretty sure that's what I have in the back (factory tint).

Where I live, law is 70% of light transmission (30% tint) for front doors & no regulation for back doors / rear window. You guys are lucky with your 30% (70% tint). I wonder how police officers are able to see drivers on a car that has a 70% tint. A child could drive a car without being pulled over. lol

Also, be careful, because your windows have a factory tint.

High-end tinting products offers a reflective effect, which allow the cars to be within the permitted range while ''hiding'' the interior more than another product with the same tint % but with no reflection would do.
