Yeah definitely be careful and take in consideration your area. I have a lot in my favor but did get busted passing through GA (So now I only travel through their at night lol) I still get nervous passing cops even though most FL cops look the other way, growing up in a small town I know must the cops and they know my truck , other areas when I’m pulled over I always roll down all my windows pull out my license, concealed and badge … I know that helps out a lol

I'm also in Ohio and just did mine this afternoon. This is the regs:

1. Nothing on windshield except a strip at the top.
2. Front side windows not more than 50%
3. Rear window and back side windows any tint is legal.

I put 50% on the front sides and 15% on the back sides and rear window. So I kept it legal for Ohio but Michigan could still have something to say about it. Michigan has maybe the worst tint laws of anyone.

I find in the no-front-tint states... as long as you keep the front/windshield windows considerably less tinted than the rears you won't get hassled. You can go with 80-90% tints that offer heat and UV rejection properties above what factory glass has. It barely changes the tint level, but makes it much more comfortable in the vehicle. Its healthier too as you will have less UV exposure. I'll tint all windows on every vehicle I own for now until forever for this reason. Just keep it looking legal, and if you do get pulled over, drop all the windows so its not a safety issue for the police. They can still ticket you for it, but its just a fine. I mean I see people driving around me all the time with blacked out tint on all windows and here I am worrying about some 80% on my fronts.

Ok, thank you.

So 80% seems to be a reasonable % for the front, and whatever matches the back windows for the front sides. I'll start looking into it more.

Thanks.

Fronts are Suntek Ceramic 25% to match the factory rears. Can be a little tough to see through at night, but I like it.

I do 20 on the front sides and 55 on the entire front with a strip of 20 at the top on top of the 55. Nothing on the backs because I like matchy match.

I have factory tint on rear and rear sides, factory match on front sides, nothing on windshield. I park outside all the time but much of that time the truck is in the shade.

As long as your tinting meets the requirements of the state in which your truck is registered, other states have nothing to say about it. Make sure you carry documentation that the tint meets your state requirements... in Texas, tinters put a small sticker on the lower driver window certifying the tint meets the state requirement. In other places there might be a statement on the invoice to that effect. Ask the shop if you're concerned about it.

I forget.....is the higher the number the darker the tint, or is it reversed? Not that I do a ton of night driving....but I'd rather not tint it so much that vision suffers a bit if possible.

Tint is rated by the amount of light it lets pass, so a lower number is darker.
