I've had 5% on every vehicle I've owned since 2005. Only issue is getting an inspection sticker, aside from that no problems.
Window tint is no longer part of the inspection in VA. The local tint shops now make you sign a paper stating that you know the tint is darker than the legal limit.

Went 15% on fronts and it is a perfect match with the rear windows. Fronts will look a lot lighter from the inside with the amount of sunlight that comes through the windshield.

Is the back privacy glass the same throughout the country? I've seen several people say 15% matches it but on my truck it looked like it was closer to 35% (which is NC limit) and a tint shop even said that 35% on the fronts is what would match the back.

Also, did anybody's truck come with a windshield strip? Mine didn't and I thought it was very odd. NC does have laws about them too though.

Why would any adult with sufficient IQ to drive a vehicle, knowingly put themselves and occupants in a situation to ATTRACT LEO's to their vehicle?

Maybe it's just too much Live PD I've been watching lately.

Keep in mind that the rear windows are not tinted from the factory - they are darkened. So if you tint only the fronts, there is no UV protection from the rear windows. The may both have the same color, but not the same heat resistance. If it's just the look you are going for, then OK. For hot climates it's a good idea to tint all 4 door windows plus the rear.

I debated on whether to go with 50 or 35. Here in Ohio, 50 is the legal limit and even though police cannot pull you over for tint alone...they always find a reason and I'm not trying to do anything to draw attention.

I went with 50. It looks a bit darker. Not a much as I really want but it does cool down the truck quite a bit. Overall I'm happy with it.

The same reason people take off the cats, lower the car too low, run loud exhaust, etc.

Most of the time tint isnt an issue until you have that 1 LEO who is bored or is trying to establish himself.

I'm in Ohio I've did 20% up front matches the rear. Having the panaromaic roof helps make it not look so dark. Sunny day you can still see people in the car no problem.

ive got pulled over for 35% up front on an old car. Also had 35% on another SUV with 5% around the back and never had an issue.

it is completely hit or miss, but my personal feeling is the type of vehicle and age really makes a difference. Both cars I never had an issue with were nicer vehicles in good shape, less than 5 year old models.

the beater I had as a kid that was white with 35% up front is the one that got me pulled over and cop coming over bullhorn to stick hands out window when approaching...

just my opinion but I think it makes a difference.

regardless any time I've been pulled over I roll windows down open rear slider and turn a light on if it's nighttime. Anything to give office some peace of mind while having to approach the vehicle at night.
