Default why would any one do this?

I dont understand the logic behind this. so I picked up a lariat radio dash piece off ebay to mod it for an ipad kit. I was like they are identical except for the last row which had the heated/cooled seats and the fan speed buttons. Since I dont have those, no problem I can tell the shop to cover them up and we are all done right?? FREAKING WRONG
After I get the dash back, I am so excited I start talking my original one apart, moving the ac controls and radio from the old one to the new one. and thats when it hit me. I damn ac ***** and buttons dont line up. DAMN FORD moved the holes locations like 3 mm down on the lariat kit to accommodate the LED clear ring around the ****. Even the ac control buttons in the middle are not the same size.
WHY would a company go through all this trouble and manufacture 20 different radio kits for one truck? I dont get it.
The one on the left is the modded one for the ipad that I cant use now. DAMN IT

Music. Videos. GPS. FaceTime. Internet. Dash Command. Usually for the same or cheaper than an aftermarket radio with the features.

thank you sir..finally someone who understands that ipads are turning into aftermarket head units now. You can do way more than you can with a $799 kenwood radio from car toys or best buy.

Is your truck a Lariat? That's the fine line when you modify parts to fit. Should have done a quick mock up instead of assuming parts from a different model would fit.

Either way you can probably sell that one and buy another dash bezel

Illegal in Maine (and probably many other states) for a screen that can display television, video (recorded or streamed) to be forward of the driver (there is an exception for GPS devices).

There are enough distracted drivers out there, we don't need more. There was an accident two days ago where a woman 'failed to notice' a stopped school bus (waiting to make a left turn), then while the wrecker was picking up her car, someone else 'failed to notice' the car in front of her had stopped (wrecker in the way). Both collisions were at 55mph and neither touched the brakes before impact.

As for Ford and button/know alignment, you are correct, it makes no sense. Someone probably made a slight adjustment to one template and forgot to adjust the others.
