Why Is It So Difficult To Find A Decent Tonneau Cover

easier to install at the right height w/ 2 people to install

I bought the bak VP because it is similar to the X2 revolver, but no drain tubes and it can flip all the way up to accommodate a dirt bike with the full bed accessible. I was worried the front tire would dent the revolver if it touched. If you're willing to leave rails on and you know you need the full bed, you can remove the entire cover with two wing nuts to have it completely gone (rather than folded up against the window). but in a pinch, you can fold it up against the window (less than ideal blocking rear view).

Leer 750S
I have a leer 750S being installed as we speak. I asked around and heard nothing but good things about this cover and its predecessors. It is not cheap but it comes with a bunch of features and looks OEM fit and finish. Will post full review once I get my truck back and use it for a few days.

No problems here
I bought the oem soft rolling from a vendor online(was around $270 shipped) and have had no issues with it. It installed easily, rolls up out of the way, and does a great job keeping the bed contents dry. It's not adversited as being waterproof but the only water I get into my bed is from opening the tailgate. Been subjected to plenty of heavy rain and snow... Was a great investment to me!

I am beyond frustrated with the choices regarding tonneau covers. I just purchased a 2016 Platinum and am trying to find a hard folding or roll top cover that doesn't leak or have usability compromises. I have friends with the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 and Encore, Undercover Flex, Truxedo Titanium, Fold A Cover G4, Retrax, and most of the Bak products. Not one of them is completely happy with their cover. Dented aluminum, noisy while driving and failing seals are some of the more common complaints. I have read pretty much every tonneau thread on the site and see similar complaints. I thought the Fold A Cover made the most sense till I helped a co-worker replace two hinge seals. What a ridiculous and time consuming process drilling out and replacing numerous rivets. I don't want a cover that permanently reduces bed access like the Retrax nor ones that fold up and completely cover the back window. You would think there is some better idea out there. Especially for the cost of some of these covers. I'd like one that doesn't leak, is quickly removable so I can fully utilize the bed and one that allows me to use the remote tailgate. Thoughts? Thank you.

No tonneau cover will make a truck bed perfectly waterproof, but we do our best to make our covers as water resistant as possible. We offer these sealing gaskets for truck beds to help, for example. We also make our tonneau covers with seamless vinyl, so there are less places for water to get in.
Whatever cover you choose, be sure to check your bed's structure for possible spots where water can sneak in, like the stake pockets and through gaps in the bulkhead.

My 15' came with one that has rails down both sides under the cover. Its a tri fold. But those rails have hoses on each corner which run into side of box and water drains under the truck. Cold heavy snow in canadian winter or a full out touchless car wash and not a drop gets in my box

Another Bak Revolver X2 happy camper. Does let a little water in at the tailgate but nothing terrible.

I have the Truxedo Titanium and so far am happy with it. Had to do some fine tuning with the rails to get the tailgate closed. I like how easy it is to remove and I had a Truxedo LowPro QT on my last truck and liked how that one looked and the Titanium looks the same. The only place I can see water getting in is around the tailgate due to all the gaps. Plus I got it for a great price from Truck Alterations.

OP, have you considered a Peragon? They are what I'm looking at. Although they don't claim to be 100% watertight, I don't think most are. And even if they are, the bed itself isn't. I don't have a peragon, but when I can talk the wife into dropping the cash, I'm pretty sure it's what I'll get.
Maybe some guys that have them will chime in, but it looks the best in my opinion, is easily removable, doesn't block much bed space or your view when it's retracted. The major downside is it requires a little drilling, but I did that to mount tool boxes on my old truck. Didn't bother me any or affect the resale in any way.
