Got a truck on order and was wondering how long it's been taking lately to get a VIN from Ford.

I looked my order up in COTUS using the order number, dealer number, and last name, and had a VIN the day after the order was placed.

 

Uh-oh, I asked my salesman two weeks after ordering for a VIN and he said it wasn't available yet.

 

Mine told me the same thing... like they've always told me. But, my salesguy (fleet guy - so he's not your average full-of-BS salesdroid) sent me the data directly from his ordering guy - which was a copy/paste of the entire dealer order screen from the dealership management system. That included the order number, dealer number, and the way they chose to spell my last name (shocking - actually correct for once!) I put all of that into COTUS and, boom, there was my truck with a VIN. It shows the equipment configuration, which is spot-on.

But, I'm expecting the date to not be spot on... it hasn't been scheduled for build yet, and I'm pretty sure the magnesium fire is going to screw me

 

Mine took three weeks, and my build has been relativfely quick so far with an ETA sometime next week. I'm looking at around 7 weeks from order to delivery.

Typical wait time is 8 to 12 weeks, and that may be extended with the recent news of a fire from one of the suppliers.

 

Mine took three weeks. Some were faster, but you might want to follow the sticky "tracking" thread if you just ordered and are looking for real experiences and timelines of custom orders.

 

tvsjr, When did you order yours? Mine was around April 17th. I'm betting I'm screwed also due the the shutdowns. I guess that's to be expected. The last time I ordered a truck, a tsunami hit Japan and wiped out the paint or pigment manufacturer for Red Candy Metallic.

 

Order was submitted 5/1. So far, it's still in order processing per COTUS... not even a build date assigned. I'm not getting in any big rush.

 

No luck for me even finding mine on Cotus... Unless I've got bad information.
