Default What should I get?

My 2010 FX4 was stolen 2 weeks ago. Best Truck I ever had. Want the new F150 Pretty much decided on Platinum. I pull a heavy trailer on occasion, long distance. I want this thing to be a hot rod. I had planned on getting the 6.2 but no longer available. All the dealer guys say to get the six banger Ecoboost. If I get the 5.0 I figured I'd get Cold Air Intake and Roush Racing Exhaust Any thoughts on which way to go. Yes I drove the 3.5 Ecoboost yes it seemed faster except lag on take off. Piped in sound was kinda creepy. Prefer the rumble of a V8. Thoughts?

You can't go wrong with either. The 3.5 is going to have more low end torque for towing. To me they both would run a hole in the wind, but the 3.5 seems to have all of its power hit at once (and it hits hard) and then that's it. The 5.0 has a smoother torque curve, so you can feel the power growing throughout the RPM band. The 5.0 obviously sounds better. There isn't much debate here. Reliability is a matter of opinion. From my observation the 3.5 guys on here have more complaints than the 5.0, but that is just my personal observation that should be taken with a grain of salt. With the 3.5 you can have Eco or you can have Boost. You can't have both. I personally went with the 5.0 because I feel it will be more reliable and I can't stand the sound that the 3.5 makes. They both have more than enough power to make me smile, but make no mistake the 3.5 is a beast.

It's a personal choice that only you can make...either one will tow well!

What he said ^^^

I had the 05 5.4 and then bought a 2014 XLT 3.5 EB and traded it for the one I have now 2015 F150 Lariat 3.5 EB. They tried to talk me into the new 5.0 because they had the color I wanted on the lot and I said no. I love the low rpm torque the EB gives you. I'm 47 and don't care about noise and rumble that the 5.0 will give you. I grew out of that long ago...

Just turned 50 myself. I always thought my 5.4 was a little anemic, but was putting down a lot of miles for work and did not want to modify as I did not want to void warranty or harm engines. Want this truck to be functional and Fun. Thanks I will likely take which ever one comes with a match on the other EQ. Finding the right truck is a pain.

From every I have read that with a 500 dollar tuner you can really make that 3.5 come alive.

I own the 3.5EB and I really laugh at all of the people making 'noise' about the piped in engine noise. It's unnoticeable and this is coming from big NA, S/C and Turbo engine vehicles. The performance between the two engines is so close that it's really personal choice. You really can't go wrong either way.

I'd say the gearing is more important than the engine choice if you plan on towing. Good luck!

The Max Tow (53C) package comes ONLY with the 3.5L Ecoboost.

Love mine. As mentioned previously, you can eco, or you can have boost. But not both at the same time.

They should just change the 'c' to a 'g'. Especially in Sport mode.
