I am referring to the slot over the front bumper below the headlights. It appears to be an intake but just goes to the fender well.

Hard to say....aero testing may have shown some turbulence there.

Air flow as it relates to fuel economy is huge in these big square trucks, and mfgr's will tune accordingly.

I seen an engineer talking about these on a press release when the '15s were just coming out. Apparently they move air from a high pressure area, and let it flow around the side of the truck, over the wheels. They say it reduces drag and increases fuel mileage.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of putting some LED DRL's that fit in the slot. I suppose it should not be blocked. May consider the grill then for lights.

I doubt you would notice any difference if you blocked it with lights, much like taking off the lower valance.

According to the parts department, it doubles as a brake caliper cooler as well

there are some neat aero tricks showing up on vehicles these days.

its interesting to see what the engineers are coming up with.

I guarantee you they did a lot of research into these intake and vent systems to improve your truck.

but once you buy it, mount a parachute on the back or whatever you want. its yours. enjoy.
