Default What does this switch do?

I have a 2017 XL STX. I noticed this overhead switch
(on the right of the photo) next to the map light. Ford call it a 'Door Function' switch. Anyone know what it does? Thanks.

Keeps the dome light on or off when the door is opened. If it's red it's off and won't come on when the doors are opened.

With it off the interior light (one shown in your pic) wont come on when you open the doors. with it on the interior light will come on when you open the doors this will include the interior light if you have a back seat as well.

Sometimes you need a little more room up on make-out point and doors need to be open. No one wants a dome light on throwing light on the scene.

We arrive at our destinations usually after our kids are asleep so it works good to not blind them and not wake them if the are still sleeping.

But I usually forget to pull the keys and the dumb door chime wakes them up anyways.

I wish the switch also eliminated the door chime for keys in the ignition.

Forscan is your friend. I turned off the door chime for the driver's door.

And note that the button shown does NOT turn off the bed/cargo light.
