Default what does Fordpass do?

What exactly does fordpass do? I have a '17 XL crew cab with the STX package that includes syn3 and the 8" touch screen. First off let me tell you that I'm old, analog and do poorly with computers. My phone was connected to the sync system by the dealer and I can make and receive calls using voice commands but that is about as far as I've got. My grandson showed me how to display the phone gps on the truck screen but can't duplicate it and he is in boot camp now so my computer help is unavailable.

If you did not get Sync Connect as an option, Ford Pass basically is useless for you in your situation.

If you did buy Sync Connect, you can remote start, find your truck, and more. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...-fordpass.html

I have an XLT and yes FordPass doesn’t do much. To get your nav to show up you need to plug your phone in using a USB cord.

I upgraded FordPass to version 1.16 (iOS) today. The release notes say the capability to send POIs to nav is now available for “certain Sync 3 equipped vehicles”. I found usage instructions on the FordPass support site. I don’t find any new link in the app to send destinations. Does anyone else?

I read the same thing but navigation is still not showing up on the app.

It's fairly useless - you have to disable Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on the Sync 3 in your vehicle, then plug in your phone with USB and open the Ford Pass App on your phone and select the Apps button on your Sync 3 unit. Once there you have to click the Ford Pass icon on the screen and let the devices talk for a while. Once done, the tab should show up in the app. But, it can only send destinations to the Sync 3 device when the phone is connected by USB (Apple and Android) or Bluetooth (Android only). You cannot send an address to the Nav system from the Ford Pass app without being connected to the vehicle directly.

If you are close enough to the vehicle that you can be directly connected, why bother sending it with your phone? The Sync 3 voice command stuff is pretty good, or if your phone is already connected then you might as well use Siri/CarPlay or Android/Google Assistant.

Remote start, lock & unlock of vehicle and parked location (great for when parking downtown and venturing around).

If you don't have sync connect add-on (About $300) it's for the most part - worthless.

I have it, and thought it was part of the Sync package. No idea really, but...

I do use 2 features on a regular basis. Remote start and location. I am in and out of airports all the time. I'm old and can't remember anything any more it seems. I'll peek at the map to confirm my general parking location. I'll also remote start it too. Do I need either? No, not really. Nothing life changing. But it is a service available so I use it when I can.
