Default What is Auto Engine Off?

After 2 plus years of ownership you would think I would know what auto engine off is and what it does. But I don't.

It is a selection on the productivity screen. It is either on or off. It is currently checked as on.

I searched my pdf manual and it only shows that selection and no explanation of what it is for. I don't believe that it has anything to do with Auto Start Stop. So what is it?

fairly certain there's a user selectable limit. like 10-20 or 30. some flavor like that.

comes active under 2 conditions.

1) remote start - when you remote start the time starts at some point it will shut back off because you didn't' put in the key or press the button.
2) while started, in park, after you've exited the car - if you were to press lock while running - timer starts. I don't know that all vehicles will do this or not

Again if I recall correctly. My explorer does this but it's pushbutton start.

Security feature to prevent harming people (for instance, if you leave the car running in your garage that's attached to the house...). It's an eco-friendly feature as well.

Just an FYI to those who don't know. If you remote start it'll turn off after 15 minutes. But after the truck is running, do the remote start again on the remote to add another 15 minutes. You can do this 3 times to have the timer run for max 60 minutes before it shuts off on its own. Handy when it's 40 below...

It's not at all friendly when you need to leave your truck running to power emergency equipment and warning lights... another one of Ford's better ideas.

clearly stated in the manual as part of the system of the truck - regardless of model

If you are leaving your truck running for those reasons - leave the key in the ignition and the door unlocked as I beleive that will disable the timer. As will leaving it in neutral with the parking brake engaged.

I do have to ask now - what are you running as emergency equipment when you do this?

He is a Firefighter. Check out his truck build. Nice.
