You may not have noticed, but did you get any kind of warning in your gauge cluster? My collision warning/brake assist, whatever it's called was set too sensitive. I could run up on a steeper hill, and the warning would come on, and yes, I vaguely recall an audio alert as well. I got into the settings, and decreased the sensitivity. It's possible the same as you getting closer to the vehicle you passed set it off. No, I'm not accusing you of tailgating.

The sound is quiet though like it is not coming from within the car but maybe. I'll have to go test this out and see if that is what it is.
I don't have that feature on my truck but I know our BMW will go beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep in that situation.
I keep the lane departure and steering intervention turned off on it, it's too annoying. Friend of mine said his once tried to run him back into the dump truck he was trying to get away from that was coming around the curve in his lane ha ha.

You have a vacuum leak in your IWE system. When you floor it, engine vacuum drops and the IWE partially engages causing a whirring/buzzing noise. Try changing the check valve in the IWE system. Just a possibility.

Its the precollision warning, its repeatable. everytime o make a run up to pass it goes off. look on your IPC you cannot miss the bright red flashing warning. just wait till the AEB kicks in. trust me when I say the truck can brake harder and faster stop then any human possible.
Has a girl in front of me about 30 feet doing 45 she hammered her brakes for NO reason about the second I got my foot down on the brakes pre coll kicked in with AEB the truck stopped in 15 feet flat from 45mph. left me about 5 feet between me and her. all my 400 pounds of tools and gear were in the front of the bed.

Mine about two months ago started doing it, on mine there is. Little <120 on the dash and a warning bell. 72 miles an hour and it goes off, can’t find it in Forscan and my dealer, (a good one) cant find it either.

Like as soon as I accelerate and turn the wheel I got the sound. I could not repeat it on an open part of the road by just flooring it. Hard to describe really almost like a distant honk. If the car I was passing was honking I would know it I am sure that was not it. The only thing different is during the pass I accelerate and then switch lanes while still accelerating to complete my pass.

Anyone? Bueller?
I was reading through my appointments for today and came across this...

I don't have auto-brakes though, do I?

Yep this is it! Please let me know what comes of this. I am still under full warranty so I'll take it in if it's something that isn't supposed to happen.

Is Ford really that clueless that they would put in a warning system and then fail to mention anything about it? I've seen Ford do some boneheaded things, but even so, this would be hard to believe.

Maybe it's a hidden feature for taking a dig at the person you're passing.
