Got my touch up paint yesterday and it has this four legged thing attached to it. What is it?

Its a built in stand to protect the point when you have paint on it and want to stand upright

I always thought it was to keep the pen oriented in the box correctly so you could see the color and part# on the label.

That may be exactly what its for. I thought it was a stand to protect the point. ha
Seems like an expensive way to keep the pen positioned inside its packaging.

It's probably both. But I'm sure the primary purpose is to protect the tip.

NOTE: whichever side you are opening, make sure it is faced upwards. I learned the hard way. And I actually don't even use the clearcoat anymore. I've touched up 5-6 rock chips already.

All a bit over-engineered if you ask me but thank-you.

These newer touch up paints all seem over engineered but it really is nice having the scratch tip for cleaning the spot before paint.

Should probably get some of this myself. Best just to order from the dealer?

It is an antenna for the cellular service to let Ford know if you do the touch-up wrong.
