Default WeatherTech Mud Flaps Rubbing

I installed a set of WeatherTech no drill mudflaps on my '16 XLT last week. While backing into my driveway (going over a smoothed over curb) they rub if I'm not backing straight in.

I've got the factory 20" rims with the factory Hankook Dynapro tires. Has anyone else had an issue with mud flaps rubbing? Am I ok to trim them if needed - they seem to stick out pretty far on the inside of the truck, much more so than the set I had on my '14.

Your stock tires are rubbing?

First I've heard of factory rims with the factory tires rubbing anything. I assume they're installed correctly (mud flaps). I would also assume it's safe to take a Dremmel or Sander to the edges that are rubbing.

Yep. Looking at it in a parking lot tonight, I've under an inch clearance. I bet it barely hits when the suspension compresses, I'll have to have the wife back it up while I watch tomorrow.

Is this a 2X or 4X?

I had the OEM flaps installed before I took the truck home. I've changed everything but for the 500 miles it was stock rubbing was a complete non issue. Don't know why the WT's would be any different. Lots of guys on here using them.

4x4. I've only noticed it while backing it into the driveway if the wheels are turned a bit. One of those raised lips/not quite a full curb at the end of my driveway.

same exact thing here - 16 SCREW with 20" wheels. Occasional rub backing or suspension travel entering drive, etc.

saw on another forum some guy says he called WTech and they said it's a known problem with trucks having BOTH fender flares (premium packages) and 20" wheels.....well, that's a pretty big group. I researched the he(* out of these and thought, with all the questions they ask about fit (flares, running boards, etc.), how can this be? In his case, they asked him to return them for a refund.

I sent an email to Wtech to see what they actually say. I bought mine through AMuscle. I have to crawl under the truck tonight and see if I can figure out where it hits and if it can be trimmed in a way that doesn't look like crap. Not optimistic since once in a while, it rubs when the wheels are straight (grade change). I didn't pay $100 for this kind of fit.

If Wtech asks for mine back, I might consider the OEM ones - a little worried about that tire facing "lip" on those though - we get a lot of snow here and that's just asking for snow and ice collection (and flap failure)...

Factory 20's on mine with stock size tires, no rubbing here with my Wtech's.

Our winters (Ottawa, Canada) are full of snow and ice and slush and salty-icy-slush and my OEM mudflaps held up perfectly fine (even with that little lip). They are pretty durable and have a very solid mounting.

(mine don't rub: XLT 4x4 with 18" OEM rims)
