Default Waze and Android Auto at the same time?

New to this all. I just updated my F150 KR 2016 and AA is running smooth. The factory NAV with Ford is horrible (sorry Ford) and has either gotten me totally lost, or had me go down the road, only to U turn to go back and get on a road I just passed so I prefer Google Maps. I travel a lot and have a Escort Max 360 but also like to run Waze as I feel both nearly give you total protection. Is there any way to run Waze on your phone while having AA running on my truck NAV screen? Sorry, not the best tech guy.

Someone posted how to do this in the AA/Carplay upgrade sticky. Not sure exactly where or I'd provide you the post #. Hopefully that member can just reply directly to you.

Start waze before connecting to android auto. After you connect, and aa is working, hit home button, then slide down the notification tray and you should be able to select waze.

It was announced in May at Google I/O but it still isn't out. Soon though they have been working on it.

Sorry it doesn't work for you, What version of Android are you on? I'm on 6.01 with a Galaxy Note 4.

Galaxy S7, Android 6.01. Started Waze, left it on screen when I plugged my phone in. It didn't show up on my screen, ever. Tried it several times.

It won't show up on the Ford Screen, but you could switch to it on your phone. Think that's where you're mixing it up. There is no way for Waze on your Ford Screen until Google adds it.

Not according to what elbo said:"Start waze before connecting to android auto. After you connect, and aa is working, hit home button, then slide down the notification tray and you should be able to select waze."

I didn't think it would work when I read it, and it doesn't work for me, but he says it worked for him.

Yeah, It won't be on your Ford Screen, but you will be able to have Android Auto (as normal) up on your Ford Screen, and Waze going on your phone. I.e. I should have been more specific in my instructions, lol. Hit your home button on (your phone) then slide down the notification tray (on your phone) and you will see Waze listed along with some other stuff (on your phone)

Android Auto locks up your phone screen by design to keep you from messing with it.
